"Your username password or security settings may be incorrect." MacOutlook 2011 with Exchange 2007 on Windows SBS
Title says it all. (((( MY ERROR MESSAGE SAYS "LOGON FAILURE" INSTEAD OF "AUTHENTICATION FAILED")))) Got a mac client computer running snow leopard. But unfortunately it wont recognise the username and password when creating the account in Outlook 2011 to connect to the exchange 2007 which runs off our SBS. The Mac can view files off the server so it's defiantly not a connection issue. Have been Googling this issue for days and can't seem to find any fixes that work. Would appreciate any input given. Thanking any posters in advance. ############################################################### ## I have also posted this question on the Office Mac Site. Hi Michael, This issue may occur if the password is incorrect. I assume you have click “Save password” and logon as the cached credentials. If this is the case, please remove the saved password, and type it again to see if this works. If the issue continues, try to logon in OWA. It will help isolate if there is a problem in mailbox account. Besides, please try to logon in Outlook for Windows. It will help isolate the fault from MAC related issue. Thanks. Fiona

This is an error message you can receive if you don't have the proper certificate installed on the Mac. By default, SBS uses self-signed certificates. If this happens to be the case with your SBS 2008 deployment, proceed like this on the Mac: 1) Bring the Finder to the foreground, and from the Go menu, select Connect to Server (or press Command-K). 2) In the Server Address filed, enter smb://servername/Public. 3) In the Downloads folder, open the Certificate Distribution Package folder . 4) Double-click on the SBSCertificate.cer file. 5) After the Keychain Access application opens, from the Add Certificates windows, select the login keychain. 6) When Keychain Access asks about trusting the certificates from the SBS Root CA, click Always Trust. 7) Enter the user name and password of the logged-in user and click OK. 8) Close Keychain Access. Now let Outlook configure itself if you have setup your SBS box to handle external Autodiscover, which you should.MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M
